Bevis Watts to step down during 10th year leading Triodos Bank UK

The CEO of Triodos Bank UK, Bevis Watts, has decided to step down from his position in 2025. In what will be his 10th year leading Triodos Bank UK and aligning with Board succession planning, Bevis has decided that it is the right time. He will continue to lead Triodos Bank UK until the half year point (end of June 2025) and a recruitment process for his successor is underway.

Bevis steps down at a time when the UK senior management team and CEO team are strong, including a number of the current senior management team having been promoted internally ensuring good continuity.

His departure will coincide with Triodos Bank’s 30th anniversary in the UK in 2025 which will provide a great platform to celebrate the heritage of the bank and welcome a new CEO.

Bevis Watts, CEO of Triodos Bank UK: “I’m immensely grateful for the support of our customers and co-workers.  We have achieved a huge amount together in building and growing the bank but more importantly we have pioneered the financing of several national ‘firsts’ in social and environmental projects, and we have delivered a huge body of work that has been at the forefront of advocating for change in the financial system. I know that Triodos will continue to be a reference point and source of inspiration on how banking must change to be a force for good.”

Bevis has worked for Triodos Bank twice in his career in what will total almost 15 years. The bank in the UK has undergone enormous transformation under his leadership, moving from a telephone and internet savings bank to a current account and mobile banking provider, extending the investments product range and becoming the first UK bank to launch an investment crowdfunding platform.

Both the balance sheet and customer numbers in the UK have more than doubled and Triodos Bank UK is now recognised as the UK’s No.1 or Best Buy ethical and sustainable bank by Which?, Ethical Consumer and Good with Money as well as the UK’s most trusted bank by Fairer Finance.

Gary Page, Chair of Triodos Bank UK:“The bank is a much larger and more impactful organisation thanks to Bevis’s transformational leadership and with a strong team to take the bank forward to fulfil our ambitions to finance change and change finance.  He has always been a great champion for what we stand for and everything we do. We are immensely grateful for his contribution over many years and all he has done for Triodos. I am delighted that Bevis will be remaining with the bank to support the handover process with his successor.”
